Biography of Dr Sreedharan A/L Muniandy
Dr Sreedharan A/L Muniandy is a Malaysian medical doctor with a dedicated clinical focus in advanced wound care, tissue repair, and biotherapy. Based in Penang, he is recognised for his experience in managing complex and non-healing wounds, particularly cases that require structured assessment, continuous monitoring, and specialised wound management beyond routine dressing care.
He currently serves as the Medical Director of H Ambulatory Care Centre / Evercare Medical Care Centre in Bayan Lepas, Penang, where he leads the development of the centre’s Advanced Wound Care Centre of Excellence. Under his clinical direction, the centre focuses on practical, outcome-oriented wound care for patients with diabetic foot ulcers, chronic wounds, surgical wounds, pressure injuries, venous ulcers, infected wounds, and other challenging wound conditions.
Dr Sreedharan holds professional wound care credentials, including Certified Clinical Wound Care (CCWC) certification associated with the Asian Wound Care Association (AWCA) and the Malaysian Society of Wound Care Professionals (MSWCP). His clinical work is supported by a systematic approach to wound management, combining accurate wound assessment, appropriate dressing selection, infection control, tissue repair strategies, patient education, and regular follow-up to support more stable healing outcomes.
A major part of Dr Sreedharan’s mission is deeply personal. In 2013, while treating a patient, he experienced a serious medical challenge involving necrotising fasciitis, which nearly resulted in the loss of his own limb. This experience became a defining moment in his professional journey and strengthened his commitment to helping patients preserve limbs, avoid preventable amputations, and receive timely specialised wound care before complications progress further.
His practice is especially focused on limb salvage, particularly for patients with diabetic foot ulcers and chronic wounds that have not responded well to conventional treatment. He is known for applying advanced wound care techniques where clinically appropriate, including specialised dressings, structured wound bed preparation, maggot debridement therapy / larval therapy, and vacuum-assisted closure dressing as part of a broader wound healing plan.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr Sreedharan is actively involved in medical education and professional training. He has conducted wound care workshops, clinical teaching sessions, and hands-on training for doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers, including sessions involving Ministry of Health facilities, MSWCP-related training, and healthcare teams across Penang and other regions. His role as an educator reflects his belief that better wound care outcomes depend not only on technology, but also on proper clinical judgement, consistency, and the ability of healthcare teams to recognise wound complications early.
Dr Sreedharan has also contributed to the wider wound care community through conferences, published work, professional sharing, and collaborative exchanges with other wound care teams. His work has brought healthcare professionals from different institutions and states to visit and learn from the clinical practices developed at the Advanced Wound Care Centre.
Known for his hands-on, detail-oriented, and patient-centred approach, Dr Sreedharan believes that wound care is not only about treating the visible wound. It also requires understanding the broader factors that influence healing, including blood sugar control, circulation, infection risk, pressure, nutrition, mobility, and the patient’s ability to maintain proper wound care at home.
Through his clinical work, training efforts, and personal mission, Dr Sreedharan A/L Muniandy represents a focused and important area of healthcare in Malaysia — advanced wound care that aims to improve healing, preserve limbs, reduce long-term complications, and improve patients’ quality of life.
Dr Sreedharan’s contribution to wound care extends beyond the consultation room. He is actively involved in clinical teaching, professional sharing, and hands-on wound care training for healthcare providers. His work includes conference presentations, published wound care sharing, workshops in Penang, training sessions involving doctors and nurses, and professional visits by wound care teams from other states to the Advanced Wound Care Centre.
These activities reflect his commitment to raising the standard of wound care practice and supporting more healthcare professionals in recognising, managing, and monitoring complex wounds effectively.
