Advancing Awareness In Advanced Wound Care And Limb Preservation
On 20 February 2024, our advanced wound care team participated in a clinical educational session organised by Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Pulau Pinang, bringing together doctors, nurses, and medical assistants from all five districts in Penang to strengthen awareness and clinical understanding of advanced wound care management.
During the session, Dr. Sreedharan Muniandy was invited as a guest speaker to share practical clinical experiences in advanced wound care, focusing on early intervention, infection management, and strategies aimed at reducing unnecessary lower limb amputation among patients with chronic and difficult-to-heal wounds.
Strengthening Clinical Knowledge In Wound Management
The educational session highlighted the importance of:
- Early wound assessment and timely treatment intervention
- Infection control in chronic wound management
- Proper wound care techniques for diabetic and complex wounds
- Multidisciplinary collaboration in improving patient outcomes
- Limb preservation and prevention of avoidable amputations
Through case-based discussions and hands-on clinical sharing, healthcare professionals were able to gain practical insights into managing challenging wound cases more effectively in daily clinical practice.
